We do not have a set settling in routine, instead the staff will work with you to tailor a settling in pattern specific to your child. This may mean parents staying for a few sessions to begin with before gradually increasing the amount of time your child is left. We want both parents and children to feel safe, secure and happy.
We are a welcoming and relaxed room, small enough for your little ones to feel safe and secure with space for up to nine babies per session. We pride ourselves in providing a ‘home from home’ environment where our experienced staff work closely with parents/carers to ensure your child is happy and settled.
When your child starts in this room they will be issued with a Key Person. The Key Person will spend time with you and your child to get to know your family and will also help your child settle in. By working together we will be able to incorporate your child’s own routine within our nursery. They will then observe, assess and plan for your child and keep their own online learning journal, which you will look forward to receiving regular updates about your child’s days at nursery and their progress.
Caterpillars - 6 weeks upto 2 years
We follow a relaxed routine to enable each individual child’s needs to be met. We have a separate cosy area for sleeping and a separate area for nappy changing. The room is well equipped with resources and books for your child to explore. We use treasure baskets and natural resources to provide your child with heuristic play opportunities and also offer a variety of sensory activities such as mashed potato play, foam play and baking. We aim to take the children outside to play twice each day and go out for walks around the village. The staff will complete a daily routine book which keeps you up to date with your little one’s busy day.
Your child’s belongings
You will be provided with a small basket to keep supplies of your child’s own nappies, creams and wipes in. We will inform you when we are running short.
Food and Drink
Please either sign up for a nursery hot lunch or provide a microwavable hot meal or a cold packed lunch.

Please ensure that you hand over any feeds or lunches to a member of staff to ensure that it is kept refrigerated.
Please provide your child with a beaker, to remain at nursery, which we will fill with water throughout the day and to which they will have constant access.
We welcome breastfeeding mothers and will always accomodate breastfeeding babies and children within the setting.

On the days when your child attends you will be allocated a small daily box to keep your child’s coat and spare clothes in. As storage is always an issue in nurseries these will need to go home at the end of each day.
